DISCOVER BIRMINGHAM: THE ASSIST+ KARKOSA + ROMA COVE + THE NEW CONSISTENT

After a year away, Birmingham band The Assist are back. Ever since forming in 2014, The Assist have had their finger on the pulse of how the modern generation consumes music, soaking their soaring indie anthems with hip-hop inflected beats, dance-tinged rhythms, and blistering breakdowns. It’s this eclectic adventurism that has seen The Assist sell out venues across Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield as well as share the stage with the likes of Happy Mondays and Blossoms, play in Paris, France with Black Honey and tour across the UK with The Twang last Christmas, supporting them on seven dates. Most recently, the four-piece completed a six-date tour across Russia as part of a cultural program with the British Embassy. The ‘Urals tour’ including headlining Boris Yeltsin Open Air at the Ural Night Music Festival performing in front of over 12,000 people. The quartet also headlined two festivals this summer, Rock The Beacon and The Smirnoff stage at Tramlines Festival, Sheffield.

The New Consistent is a 19-year-old unsigned artist from Worcester in the West Midlands, described as having ‘exceptionally personal lyrics’ (IndieMidlands) and ‘sharp wit and unique style of delivery that definitely marks him out as one to watch’ (So Young)

Produced by Austin Williams of Swim Deep, his first two singles ‘The New Consistent’ and ‘3 Years’ come from the heart, creating an instant rapport with the listener.

’Rude Boys’ – his latest single details a relationship with his dad that has peaked and dipped over his 19 years. It showcases an elegant flow to his delivery and takes his storytelling to the next level. The video that accompanies it lets the viewer step right into the life of Ramsay, watching as if they were in the room with him.

‘You would have to search long and hard to find a single – or an artist, for that matter – that is so completely bona fide.’ (Words For Music)
