CHINA RATS+ MODERN MINDS + PARADISE CIRCUS

China Rats release the Don’t Play With Fire EP on September 30th. The band, who are set to appear at Reading & Leeds festivals this August and recently supported The Weeks,  have also confirmed details of a UK headline tour for this October, including their first Birmingham headline show at The Sunflower Lounge on Sat 5th October 2013.

A four piece rock ‘n’ roll band from Leeds, China Rats are inspired by a love of punk rock and the classic British guitar bands. That is, the very best bands – the ones with the greatest knack at conveying the frustrations and absurdities of their young lives. In these times where – let’s face it – prospects can generally be pretty crappy for men in their early 20s, China Rats have an irresistible energy and a turn of self-deprecating, tongue in cheek phrase, lyrics that could only have bubbled up from this part of the world. It’s not hard to see why their last hometown show sold out and festival bookers from Texas to the Med have been so quick to sign them up to play.

As well as opening support from PARADISE CIRCUS

A new up and coming band, but not new to the B-Town circuit, Paradise Circus are a three-piece outfit who capture everything that’s good about the vibrant Birmingham music scene. Embracing a wide range of influences, they produce catchy pop tunes that mirror the highs & lows of today’s youth. The soulful voice of lead singer/ songwriter, James O’Gorman, overlays the driving rhythms skilfully played by the energetic drummer, Jake Brown and talented bassist, Dan.

From the bright & soulful ‘In It For Himself’ to the gritty ‘Welcome To My City’, Paradise Circus are an exciting, young band that are well worth watching. Currently working with producer Gavin Monaghan, who is notable for his works with Editors, Scott Matthews and The Twang, the band will be releasing their first single in autumn 2013.
