BBC Music Introducing in the West Midlands is committed to supporting the local scene here which is absolutely brimming with talent. It’s an exciting time for the West Mids with music of every genre imaginable flowing through the programme every week. This showcase is the first of its kind for us – a regular live showcase of talent that we have been supporting on air – it’s incredibly exciting to team up with Birmingham Promoters and play a big role in the prestigious live music arena that the region has to offer!

Birmingham based band Riscas have been spreading their own brand of tropical indie pop acros the country and recived international attention after being named as BBC Radio Ones Introducing Artist of the Week in March 2017 quickly marking themselves as ones to watch. Their first single ‘Panic like Tom’ became an instant hit and charted 4th on Spotify’s top UK Viral charts and became a staple on Spotify’s ‘Indie List’ playlist amongst others. As well as selling out venues across the country, Riscas have also supported the likes of Pale Waves, Sam Fender, The Night Cafe and BLOXX. Back from touring Russia this summer, Riscas are back spreading their sun tinged anthems.

Welcome to The Nu, created in 2017 by acclaimed singer-songwriter Darius Zaltash. The futuristic music project, born in the cultural heartland of Brighton now based in Birmingham, Has ambitions to reach NU heights, creating pumping soundscapes for the 21st century. The NU combines the electric atmosphere of the dance world and the raw energy of rock’n’roll to pioneer a fresh approach to music. Drawing inspiration from acts such as INXS, Crystal Castles and Jane’s Addiction, we dive into countless spectrums of euphoria that has every intention of sparking that increasingly precious goosebump feeling.
