Within weeks of putting their first demo online in 2012, Baby Strange were picking up airplay on Radio 1 and securing features in music blogs and publications across the country.

2013 saw the band support The Vaccines and feature in several festival bills over the summer, including T in the Park and Belladrum, before joining Palma Violets on their UK tour. Their gigs have earned the band a reputation for a raucous live show and 2014 is already shaping up to be another exciting year, having played the BBC Introducing showcase at KOKO in January and confirming their spot at the NME showcase at this year’s Great Escape Festival. The band are also one of the first acts to be confirmed for Radio 1’s Big Weekend when it takes place in Glasgow this year.

Baby Strange are currently writing and recording new material.

“Their debut is as good a manifesto as we’ve heard all year.”- NME

Plus support from DUMB

As 2013 got under way four childhood friends were given a wake-up call by the spotlight on the music scene in their native Birmingham and decided to build on their formative years of gigging and songwriting and take their music seriously to form Dumb. For their first ever gig the band went straight to the prestigious stage of London’s KOKO and the legendary Club NME night before returning home to headline Birmingham’s O2 Academy. Influenced by Pixies and cult American indie rock heroes Built To Spill, the quartet create a bold and brash combination of self-assured swagger, slick melodies and Dylan’s rasping vocals, which has frequently caught the attention of the likes of NME and BBC Radio 1.

This February saw the release of impressive double A side  ‘Super Sonic Love Toy’ / ‘Two Bottles’ as well as triumphant hometown headline show at the Hare & Hounds.

“Another ridiculously talented band from Birmingham. We love them” – BBC Radio 1 (Phil Taggart/Alice Levine)
