There’s a mellowness & warmth to Alex Lleo’s debut recordings that feels both timeless and fresh. Recorded live with his six-piece band at Park Studios in Birmingham, his debut EP is a masterclass in soulful, addictive songwriting.

‘Bedroom Door’ is the first track to be released from the EP. Constructed around two distinctive melodies, brass & string arrangements intertwine to build a song that’s infectious and impressive. More so that it was recorded live in one take, with Alex intent on capturing the spontaneity of first time performance. You can sense the kinetic energy in the room from ‘Bedroom Door’s accompanying video.

“I wanted something to document that we could do it without any fancy trimmings,” Alex says, keen to capture the moment, rather than glossy, managed perfection during the recording. “I was determined to get the mistakes,” he says. “To be live in a room together creates moments in time that you just can’t replicate. It was that ‘spur of the moment’ thing I really wanted to showcase to people”

Spending time in nature – in Worcestershire’s Lickey Hills where Alex lives and grew up, the awe- inspiring Scandinavian mountains, and surfing the various coastlines of the British Isles – has shaped Alex’s creative outlook. You can hear his attraction to the natural world, its peace and its drama, in his music, which is exquisitely paced, laid-back and rich in melody.

On the live-front, Alex and his six-piece band will make their London debut with a headline show at St Pancras Old Church on the 2nd May. Promoted by Communion Presents (Ben Howard, George Ezra, Daughter) tickets are on-sale now from SEE.

Alex will travel to the South West this spring to surf the cold British waters and play a series of solo headline shows around Cornwall throughout May. Full listings to be announced shortly.

Plus support from DEMI MARRINER

UK singer-songwriter Demi Marriner released her debut EP Tracks and Trails last year, and within 48 hours of release, the EP went to #1 on the UK iTunes Country Album Chart. Since then, Demi has attracted attention on social media from country blogs far and wide, and has recorded a radio session with BBC Gloucestershire, featured on BBC WM with Adrian Goldberg, recorded a BBC Introducing session and had frequent airplay.

Demi has also had the opportunity to perform at a number of festivals this year including Wychwood Festival (on the main stage), 2000 Trees Festival (at the Forest Sessions) and Cheltenham Jazz Festival. Going from strength to strength since the release of her debut EP, in July Demi had the wonderful opportunity to open for Rufus Wainwright at the Symphony Hall in Birmingham, where she received a fantastic response from the 2000 people in attendance.
