Kioko release new song ‘Sing Like I’

KIOKO are a Birmingham based band on the rise, known for their infectious grooves and electric live performances. Today they’ve released new single ‘Sing Like I’

KIOKO are set to play on Saturday 5th September 2020 at Dead Wax Birmingham. Tickets available here.

Birmingham-based reggae collective KIOKO return with their new track ‘Sing Like I’.  At a time of uncertainty, the band wanted to release a song to uplift the masses. Bringing the KIOKO positivity to everyone’s homes, gardens and to those key workers putting their lives on the line.

‘Sing Like I’ is about praising somebody you look up to for inspiration, love and happiness. A feel-good song that anyone and everyone can sing!

The supporting video was from director Will Hutchinson, who joined KIOKO on the UB40 tour in Amsterdam, capturing some on-stage footage. In a time that the band can’t be together, they wanted to use this special footage to create a video that brings hope we will all be back together in a gig venue soon.

“‘Sing Like I’ is grooving and uplifting feel-good anthem. Lose yourself in the rhythm, make it your summer soundtrack and let it carry you through these new moments we are experiencing.” Says Josh Wilkinson, KIOKO

With all gigs and festivals cancelled or postponed for the foreseeable future, the group wanted to use this song as a way to thank all those who have supported them over the years, from Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds, independent venues, UB40, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, Dub Pistols, David Rodigan, BBC Radio 1’s Toddla T, Preeya Kalidas BBC Asian Network and many more.

“I liked them so much we asked them to go on tour with us. They totally get that reggae vibe and remind me of us when we were starting out in the band” Robin Campbell, UB40.
