April Towers Announce Birmingham Show

April Towers announced a tour date in Birmingham on the 23rd September 2018 at the Sunflower Lounge, plus support from Love Bites and Open Arms. Tickets available here.

April Towers, aka Alex Noble and Charlie Burley, are a Nottingham duo producing synth-based electro-guitar songs.

They have steadily released a series of singles showcasing their unique sound that combines light melodies with fulfilling bass tones and experimental synths and draws influences from pioneering artists such as Jon Hopkins, Aphex Twin, LCD Soundsystem and Radiohead.

In addition to that, they have and a pop sensibility that recalls the likes of Pet Shop Boys, New Order, Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark and Cut Copy.
It really sound like April Tower are joining CHVRCHES in the ongoing synth revolution.

Now signed to acclaimed independent Lab Records and with BBC Radio 1 support on each single and countless support 2018 is set to be their strongest year yet with promises of more EP’s and their first long player, Certified Freaky.

The opening song of the album, ‛Takes One To Know One’, makes a powerful statement. A stuttering deep guitar-riff sets the pace, before bright petal rhythms unfold with rolling artificial waves, glittering electro-drums and some pretty wonderful vocals.

In another track, ‛Modern Pysche’, akin Gary Numan and New Order, April Towers squeeze plenty of power, pathos and emotion from their electronic instrumentation. Bright, clarion keyboards and jangling drum-machines entwine with muscular synths, yet the duo imbue the whole with a subtlety and naturalness which is rare to find.

The lyric:“What do I say, to a brand new day?” sums up the modern condition perfectly.
In a world seemingly overloaded with information and entertainments, how does one escape the accelerating merry-go-round to even find a chance to centre oneself? Modern Psyche, indeed.

“There is no doubt April Towers have all the ingredients needed to go far. They wring more variety from their chosen instruments on Certified Freaky than many bands do over their entire career. Moreover, they make it seem effortless. When compared to their contemporaries, April Towers feel less commercial, far less self-indulgent and, strangely, more human by a long way – Music News

“The band create a powerful slab of noise.” – The Line Of Best Fit

“Poised to be the name on every tastemaker’s lips, A remarkably independent pop phenomenon”  – Clash

“There’s no two ways about it, if April Tower’s aren’t massive, then there is no justice in the world.” – Gigwise
