Sugarthief to play The Flapper Birmingham

Unsigned Birmingham band Sugarthief are showing no signs of slowing down in 2018 after a successful 2017, which lead to a Winter tour with The Twang – playing to massive audiences in Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle and Oxford.

The Twang front-man Phil Ethridge saw Sugarthief sharing a stage with fellow Birmingham bands Ocean Colour Scene, Editors, Jaws and Superfood at the inaugural Beyond the Tracks Festival and invited them on tour there and then. This marked the end of a fine Summer for the band which also saw them open the main stage at YNot Festival, before playing Kendal Calling the same weekend.

The young four-piece document modern teenage experiences via jangly guitars, pop-ridden basslines and hook laden lyrics. “All the songs are really about my view of a pretty screwed up world”, says front-man Jordi. “Some people call our sound Indie rock/pop – I’m not sure about that… we just make the music and let others worry about pigeon holes”

They continue to build their ever growing audience by supporting touring acts such as: The Night Cafe, Willie J Healy, King No-one, High Tyde, Airways and Cosmo Pyke and have sold out their last 7 headline gigs in Birmingham.

With major festival appearances due to be announce and a mini UK tour in the Autumn to celebrate the release of their debut EP, there is a very good chance you’ll be seeing and hearing more about these young, hard working Brummies in 2018 and beyond.
