Miranda Lee Richards to play Ort Birmingham

Miranda Lee Richards is a gifted Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter. Born in San Francisco after the summer of love and before the dawn of disco, she grew up in an artistic and bohemian environment that has informed her adult life and work.

After graduating from the San Francisco School Of The Arts, she travelled to Paris to model, but soon returned to the U.S. to pursue a musical career. A series of chance encounters with influential people began when she became friends with Kirk Hammet from Metallica, who taught her to play guitar. Early demos of her songs reached the ears of Anton Newcombe, and she soon joined his band The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

In January of 2016, Richards delivered Echoes Of The Dreamtime, recorded at her home studio with husband and producer Rick Parker (Black Rebel Motorcycle Club & Lord Huron). It brought together eight pastoral, atmospheric epics into a work that was her most impressive yet, with four stars by MOJO magazine, and 8/10 in Uncut.

In February of 2017, in the post-U.S. election climate, Richards has delivered Existential Beast, via UK based indie label, Invisible Hands Music, with what is arguably her most impressive work to date. Of the album, Richards states, “It is a political album to the core, examining the issues of our time, but with an intent of tackling those difficult and sometimes taboo subjects in a poetic and heartfelt manner.”
