Watch: Peace – ‘Gen Strange’

May 5, 2015 in News

Ahead of their biggest tour to date, Peace have released a new video for ‘Gen Strange’. Taken from their top 20 album Happy People, the video features a guest appearance from famous footballer and equally esteemed robotic dancer, Peter Crouch. From Frontman Harry Koisser:

“Hello world,

Please find attached our video we made for gen strange.
Basically the TOADZ (totally original & dangerous) have got your back baby.
Look, our youth was tarnished by being spat on and bothered as we mooched around small town shopping centres but it’s 2015 now & we’ve decided having to deal with being verbally or physically assaulted for basically dressing like an absolute hero, being “overweight” & too cute is over.
Next time you get sass give us a call & we’ll come f*ck those jokers up. On our motorbikes.
We’re claiming the tracksuit. It’s ours now.

Yours Toadingly
H
xx”

Peace announce Wolverhampton Civic show

February 16, 2015 in News

Peace, one of the UK’s most exciting young live bands, are back following the release of their much anticipated second Top 20 album, Happy People. After a sellout UK tour in January, the Birmingham quartet hit the road this autumn, calling at Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Sat 10th October 2015.

The band leapt into the hearts of the public with their joyously escapist debut album In Love in 2013. Their heart-on-sleeve indie anthemics, impulsive and charismatic frontman Harry Kossier, and knack for writing a genuine song hook swiftly saw the colourful Birmingham four piece grace every tastemaker music front cover, play two sold out Shepherds Bush Empires shows, and pop a top 20 debut album in their back pocket.

Fast-forward to present day and Peace have stepped up from songs for indie clubs, to something much, much bigger. Happy People has the kind of ambitious spirit which has the potential of touching lives of millions. The brilliance of these songs is in their effervescence — in how for all the craft and consideration and studio experimentation, how irresistible and irrepressible and effortless they sound. These are songs of youth and joy, these are choruses to be sung loud and en masse, this is the sound of a band on fire.

dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip to play Wolverhampton

April 14, 2014 in News

Despite growing up in the same Essex village Stanford Le Hope, dan le sac and Scroobius Pip were merely passing acquaintances before sharing a Christmas season working at the Lakeside branch of HMV. After a brief creative courtship, their very first collaboration struck gold. Hot off the CDR burner, their first song ‘Thou Shalt Always Kill’ was sent to XFM’s John Kennedy in demo form and within 24 hours Kennedy had played the track on his show. That video has now chalked up 3.5million views on YouTube and the single’s hastily arranged release on Lex cracked the Top 40. Shunning the inevitable major label overtures, Messrs le sac and Pip opted to sign to Rob da Bank’s Sunday Best label, ensuring that their critically acclaimed debut album became one of the leading independent releases of 2008.

Visually and musically dan le sac Vs Scroobius Pip defy any prefab industry model, their towering structures of Casio enthused electro-hip-pop often cutting against the conventions of radio programming, and yet they have become airwave and chart regulars.

Following solo albums from both Dan and Pip, the duo returned in October with new album Repent Replenish Repeat and a sold out UK tour that included Birmingham’s The Institute. Now back in spring 2014, the twosome make a welcome return to the midlands for a show at Wolverhampton’s Slade Rooms on Tues 22nd April 2014.
