LISTEN: Together Pangea – ‘Money On It’

July 17, 2017 in News

Sometimes waiting for things to change is nothing more than beating your head against a wall. You sit there hoping for something different, but all along you know it’s going to take some actual action on your part. Together Pangea recognize this truism and confront it on their new single, ‘Money On It’.

Coming from their forthcoming Bulls and Roosters via NETTWERK, the track finds singer William Keegan surveying a problematic relationship and finally deciding to address it head on. Despite the trying theme, it actually finds hope in honesty: “I put my money on it/ I put my money on you/ We can talk until we talk it out/ Or we can work until, yeah baby, until we work it out.”

Musically, ‘Money On It’ is a far janglier Together Pangea than fans have heard before, something that was only hinted at on previous single ‘Better Find Out’. There’s an almost beach sway in the rhythm that the guitars stroll lightly across. The rich vibes mixed with scratchy vocals show more of the continued evolution the band has been undergoing through 2014’s Badillac and 2015’s The Phage EP. That’s because, as Keegan explains to Consequence of Sound, Together Pangea made a concerted effort to not let themselves be crippled by waiting for things to change.

Together Pangea announce Birmingham show

July 3, 2017 in News

On their latest full-length album, Bulls and RoostersTogether Pangea managed to hit a sweet spot between writing rock ‘n’ roll songs worthy of being hummed twenty years from now and maintaining the brash and ballsy bite fans know and love. The Los Angeles quartet—William Keegan [guitar, vocals], Danny Bengston [bass, vocals], Erik Jimenez [drums], and Roland Cosio [guitar]—essentially get louder by dialing the volume down.

Since they began jamming back in William’s Santa Clarita bedroom, Together Pangea have continually challenged themselves with each subsequent offering.

Jelly Jam [2010] poured the gasoline, Living Dummy [2011] struck the match, and Badillac [2014] lit the fire with its revved up nineties rock-inspired flames. Along the way the group received support from Consequence of SoundPitchforkMTVStereogum, and more.

Inspired by a John Baldessari painting named “Tips for Artists Who Want To Sell” Bulls and Roosters represents Together Pangea at their boldest, brightest, and best to date.

Together PANGEA to play The Sunflower Lounge Bham

November 9, 2015 in News

LA garage rockers Together PANGEA land in Birmingham this February in support of their recent EP The Phage, released by Burger Records and produced by Tommy Stinson from The Replacements.

2015 has been an active year for the band, starting with a sweaty & successful 25-date tour of the UK and Europe, followed by a slot opening for the The Replacements at the legendary Hollywood Palladium. Plus, a first visit to Mexico, an appearance at Los Angeles festival Beach Goth 2015, and support from Stereogum and Consequence of Sound.

“The Phage is essentially cabin fever, whether it be a cabin or a tour van that you’re trapped in for months”, says singer/songwriter/guitarist William Keegan. “When things become funny for no reason and a little madness sets in, that’s when you start stealing organs with a teleportation ray. Just watch Star Trek Voyager.”
