The Front Bottoms to play O2 Institute Birmingham

June 29, 2016 in News

New Jersey quartet The Front Bottoms recently shared a new video for their song ‘Ginger’ via Pitchfork TV. ‘Ginger’ is from their 2015 critically acclaimed album, Back On Top, which was produced by Joe Chiccarelli (Beck, The Strokes, White Stripes), and received widespread praise for its earnest sentiment and sing-along anthems.

The band made their network TV debut earlier this year, performing ‘West Virginia’ on Late Night with Seth MeyersRolling Stone called them one of the best 30 Best Things they saw at Coachella this year and NPR: All Songs Considered’s Bob Boilen has hailed them as “one of the absolute ten best American bands in a live situation.”

The Front Bottoms have also announced tour dates in Europe and Australia, including a Birmingham show at O2 Institute on Wed 23rd November. With a string of sellout Birmingham shows already under their belts, we recommend picking up your tickets asap!

The Front Bottoms announce intimate Bham show

May 28, 2014 in News

“These are the songs that people ask for when we’re on tour,” says vocalist/guitarist Brian Sella of The Front Bottoms, about their new six-track Rose EP, set for release via Bar/None Records on 17th June 2014. Named after drummer Mathew Uychich‘s grandmother Rosemary, Rose marks the first in a series of EPs named after their grandmothers which they plan on releasing in the future. A collection of some of the best tracks of their career so far, many of the tracks on Rose will once again be road-tested this summer when the band play Reading & Leeds and Bestival, as well as a few select UK dates, including an intimate show at Birmingham’s The Sunflower Lounge on 26th August.

Formed in Northern Jersey, The Front Bottoms grew organically throughout the underground and have since made major headway into the mainstream. First tackling local Jersey media, the band quickly garnered rave reviews from national outlets such as Alternative Press, Filter, All Music Guide, Absolute Punk and Sputnik Music among many others, and even caught the eye of the Los Angeles Times who declared “This is a pop soundtrack for learning to live in the moment.”

September 17, 2013 in News

Autumn is now in full swing. Coats and jumpers have come out of the cupboard, and you’re toying with idea of putting the heating on. Or, if you’re anything like me, you stubbornly refusing to put the heating on, despite being very cold.

But all is not lost! This time of year can only mean one thing – the start of touring season. As we excitedly await an influx of bands from all corners of the globe, here’s a brief round-up of the wide range of shows we have coming up this week.

WEDNESDAY 18TH

If you’re looking for something a little different this week, seven-piece folk, country and blues outfit Carousel Circus play a free entry show at The Yardbird Jazz Club on Wednesday. Performing traditional melodies with a modern twist, Carousel Circus have previously played in the grand surrounds of Birmingham’s Symphony Hall so be sure to catch them in this unusually intimate setting. Or, if intricate folk mixed with ambient electronica is more your cup of tea, then head down to The Victoria on John Bright Street where Malpas play a very special headline gig. The Front Bottoms to play The Institute Birmingham

September 15, 2013 in News

Following a triumphant headline show at the Hare & Hounds, The Front Bottoms return to Birmingham this September to headline The Temple at The Institute.

For a band whose much-celebrated self-titled debut album resonated amongst a very broad audience and whose music covered equally as much territory, New Jersey’s The Front Bottoms are gearing up to explore even more territory with a bigger and brighter new sound that’s much more realized yet very much The Front Bottoms.

Written mostly on the road over the span of the last year, latest album Talon of the Hawk is the sound of a band that is coming into their own. At once immediate and catchy while also complex and profound, the music of The Front Bottoms is a study in contrasts, something The Daily News caught on when they called their debut “endlessly fascinating” and crowning it one of the Top Ten for 2011. Bob Boilen of NPR chimed in, saying “the young duo’s smart, irreverent, self-titled debut strikes a deft balance between the comical and the emotional.” Charming and comical with a very real heart, their music isn’t just a byproduct of their overactive youthful imaginations…it’s just who they are.

Formed in Northern Jersey, The Front Bottoms grew organically throughout the underground.

The Front Bottoms to play Hare & Hounds

January 24, 2013 in News

Following their excellent support slot with The Menzingers back in September, we are stoked to announce The Front Bottoms will be returning to Birmingham, this time to headline the Hare & Hounds!

What can we say about The Front Bottoms? We know we love them: a punk band that uses acoustic guitar, indie-rock dance grooves, Springsteen-y keyboard lines (this they might deny). It’s hook-filled… it’s anthemic… it’s confessional. Maybe Joni Mitchell by way of Green Day? They must have heard some Replacements along the way, and it seems like what Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers did for the Boston suburbs these guys are doing for Bergen County, NJ. But they still leave us scratching our heads. Just what the hell have the Front Bottoms alchemized?

Their self-titled debut album is out now via Bar/None Records.

THE FRONT BOTTOMS PLAY HARE & HOUNDS BIRMINGHAM ON WED 17TH APRIL 2013. TICKETS AVAILABLE HERE.
