May 14, 2013 in News

Birmingham’s hottest new indie heroes, Superfood, have posted a new demo online. Following on from their debut self-titled track, which was premieréd by none other than Zane Lowe, the four-piece have posted a new track entitled ‘TV’ on their Soundcloud.

Superfood, having previously played shows under various different guises, sprang into life on January 30th 2013, unveiling themselves to a capacity Old Blue Last crowd supporting fellow brummies Jaws. A sold out UK tour supporting Peace quickly followed. Now, we’re pleased to announce Superfood’s first ever headline show, at The Rainbow Birmingham on 4th July.

Tickets on sale for Superfood at The Rainbow

May 9, 2013 in News

Hailing from Birmingham, this four-piece oddball gang have gained a fierce live reputation, initially with zero singles, zero YouTube videos and not even a Soundcloud to their name. Shrouded in accidental secrecy, it wasn’t until recently that Superfood unveiled their first ever recorded track that started it all entitled, er, ‘Superfood’.

They played their first gig in Birmingham last year on Halloween after spending a month crafting their first set of songs. It was a huge success. So much so that they played a dozen shows under various guises to keep them from prying eyes, including supporting Peace at their now legendary Christmas show at The Rainbow Warehouse last December

However, on January 30th 2013 they finally unveiled themselves to a capacity Old Blue Last crowd supporting fellow brummies Jaws. A sold out UK tour supporting Peace quickly followed. Now, we’re pleased to announce Superfood’s first ever headline show, at The Rainbow Birmingham on 4th July.

Emperor Yes & Superfood to support Tall Ships

February 21, 2013 in News

Tickets are flying out for our Tall Ships gig at the Sunflower Lounge, and with Emperor Yes and Superfood added as supports we’re expecting this event to sell out any day now!

Emperor Yes is a musical ensemble that comprises Ash Gardner (House of Strange studios owner), Adam Betts (of Three Trapped Tigers) and Hugo Sheppard (of Carl and the Saganauts, Ron Jetson, Arch Stanton, and briefly with Summer Camp, Clockwork Quartet, and To-mera).

Together, this nerdy-pop super-group recently kicked-off their career with an uplifting brace of tracks in ‘Fishes’/’Wasps’, which feel like an expressive vacation from their usual roles. To enhance even further the collaborative nature of this project, Emperor Yes had hosted a month-long gallery show to celebrate the release where works by graffiti artists based on each of the tracks were on show and live performances from friends such as Olubenga (Metronomy) took place.

To open the show we have Birmingham’s best kept secret, the mysterious Superfood, who have been making major waves across the local scene over their relatively short life-span.With zero singles, zero YouTube videos and not even a Soundcloud to their name, they’re riding a wave of buzz created solely by a handful of mostly hometown shows. Old school.

Formerly known as Junnk, who were formerly known as Baby 100, the four-piece initially turned heads when they supported local indie heroes Peace at their now legendary Christmas show at The Rainbow Warehouse last December.

Now that Peace have announced they’ll be taking Superfood out on the road for their upcoming April tour, this is certainly a band destined for big things. Not to be missed!

Joining them are the rather brilliant Superfood. Also hailing from Birmingham this is their first national tour and you won’t regret getting down early.
