Raglans to play Hare & Hounds Birmingham

April 10, 2014 in News

Irish indie-folk four-piece Raglans have undergone a meteoric rise in popularity since their inception in 2010, going from a crowd pleasing, gig-opening favourite at Dublin’s Whelan’s hotspot to garnering widespread recognition across the UK.

The Long Live EP released in 2012 was bolstered by a collection of enthralling videos, but ultimately it was the EP’s standout ‘Digging Holes’, that started to get band recognition. The infectious single won widespread acclaim throughout the blogging world and forced their name as serious contenders amongst indie counterparts throughout 2013, winning them supports with the likes of The Courteeners and HAIM.

Raglans return in 2014 with the release their self-titled debut album, due out in March via Independent Records. Raglans, as an LP, encompasses the grouped vocals of The Lumineers, the multi-intrumentalist efforts of Of Monsters And Men, whilst highlighting the substantial post-punk camaraderie circa The Libertines. Raglans are now preparing to promote the album, setting off to support fellow bluesy wunderkinds The Strypes on a huge nationwide tour of the UK, followed by a string of headline UK dates in April, calling at Birmingham Hare & Hounds on Tues 15th.

Introducing: Raglans

June 27, 2013 in Introducing, News

Formed in a festival tent in 2010, Dublin based four-piece Raglans blaze a trail of muscular new wave guitars, gritty pop melodies and uplifting indie folk arrangements that hops, skips and jumps with a skill and confidence far beyond their short lifespan.

Kickstarting 2012 in an imperious fashion with the witty, charmingly shot Beatlesque video for ‘The Man From Glasgow’, the bands EP Long Live followed shortly after, and was the first release on Whelans’ new record label. The band’s songwriting skills and musical camaraderie shine all over an EP that announces this vibrant, talented band to the world.

Raglans followed the release with a video for the lead track of the EP, ‘Digging Holes’ which instantly went viral, and was recently nominated in best 50 videos of all time. Such was the impact of this video that at their live shows large swathes of the audience are seen replicating the moves.

The band have been touring since the release appearing at all the major Irish festivals as well as recently supporting The View, The Courteeners and Haim. Now signed to Cuckoo Records in the UK, their latest single ‘Digging Holes’ is set for release in July 2013, accompanied by the band’s first UK headline tour, including Birmingham’s Sunflower Lounge.
