Flyte to play live in Birmingham

July 3, 2017 in News

Flyte are Will Taylor (vocals, lead guitar), Nick Hill (bass, vocals), Sam Berridge (keyboards, guitars, vocals) and Jon Supran (drums, vocals).

The band has spent the first months of 2017 in Australia putting the finishing touches to their debut album with Courtney Barnett producer Burke Reid, a collaboration that delves deep into new sonic territory to create a modernist but timeless sound that revels in coming-of-age nostalgia, cinematic synth melodies and prolific storytelling themes of life, love and death.

Last year, vocalist Will Taylor and keys player Sam Berridge got drunk and uploaded a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘River’ to their Facebook page. The slap-dash DIY charm and heart-wrenching voices started a Flyte-movement. Racking up over 1 million streams, fans wanted more sessions, and Flyte began carefully curating covers in London landmarks with towering acoustics, earning a reputation for their trademark four-part harmonies, as well as their live sound. Pulling on all their resources, the band also started a successful sell-out club night Chasing Heaven, where friends were invited to play at intimate London venues.

Accomplished songwriters Will, Sam, Nick, and Jon have released a flurry of alternative-indie anthems including ‘We Are The Rain’, ‘Closer Together,’ and ‘Light Me Up’ over the past few years and have amassed over 1.5 million Spotify streams. Evolving together as a band and great friends.

Bry announces Birmingham show

June 9, 2017 in News

The standout album track ‘Disarm’ is featured on Bry’s eponymous debut album, and the new single edit compacts all of its punch into a sharp 3:30 running time. The video for ‘Disarm’ features the actress Evanna Lynch (“Luna Lovegood” in the Harry Potter series).

Bry’s story begins in down at heel Dublin pubs and clubs where he performed in a succession of bands before taking a notion to travel to every single country in the world. Setting up a YouTube channel (BriBryontour) to let family and friends know how he was getting on in his travels, one late night abroad he uploaded a video of himself playing one of his own songs – and everything changed.

In late 2014, a word-of-mouth recommendation from a friend led Jonny Quinn, Snow Patrol drummer and co-founder of Polar Patrol Publishing, to check out the singer-songwriter’s YouTube channel. In early 2015, Bry duly joined Belle and SebastianJohnny McDaid and more as the newest addition to the Polar Patrol stable, with 13 Artists signing up to represent the singer for live bookings and Mondo Management at the helm.

In late 2016, Bry toured Europe with Twenty-One Pilots, and then continued on to headline his own shows in Europe and the UK throughout December, February, April, and May, selling out many venues along the way. In November of this year, he embarks on another headline Europe and UK tour.

Introducing: The Coronas

November 24, 2014 in News

Boasting 3 double platinum albums in their homeland of Ireland, The Coronas have sold out everywhere from Dublin’s 13,000 capacity o2 Arena to The Olympia Theatre, where they played a record-breaking six night run. They have supported Sir Paul McCartney, The Script, Justin Timberlake and Pink. In October they played 3 sold out headline dates in Manchester, Glasgow and London. In March 2015 they will embark on a full headline UK tour, calling at O2 Academy3 Birmingham on Wed 25th March 2015.

Last year, The Coronas moved to London. Which matters because, as anyone in Ireland will tell you, The Coronas are a Dublin band. This summer they played to 9,500 arms-aloft fans at Dublin’s Royal Hospital Kilmainham Park – but their sights are now focused further afield. Within months of their move, the band who battled the big boys in Ireland on their own indie label had signed a publishing deal with Big Life and been snapped up by Island Records, not on the strength of their previous achievements, but for their epic new album The Long Way, which is released on 9th March 2015 on Island Records.

Drenge & Superfood to support Peace

August 27, 2013 in News

Peace have announced the supports for their biggest hometown headline show to date – Sheffield duo Drenge, and local four-piece Superfood will open for the band at the O2 Academy Birmingham on Friday 13th December 2013.

After months of being championed almost exclusively by blogs and indie rags, Drenge made national news this summer when Labour MP Tom Watson resigned from the shadow cabinet while telling world that he “was seized with those fragmentary moments of pure music joy that festival goers live for” after discovering brothers Eoin and Rory Loveless’ music at Glastonbury. While it might not have been the most credible affirmation of their talents, it’s certainly spread the band’s name beyond the small village of Castleton where they grew up.

Their eponymous debut album is laced with punchy breakbeats, thrashy riffs, and psychedelic bluesy rackets with hints of Eagles of Death MetalThe Hives & QOTSA. It’s anthemic, razor sharp garage rock of the finest pedigree; raucous and relentless, fevered and furious – little wonder Zane Lowe has featured them on his ‘Hottest Record in the World’ segment recently.

Their live shows amplify Drenge’s strengths to an even greater degree. Despite the relatively basic setup of Rory on drums and Eoin on guitar, they still manage to make a deliriously addictive racket that takes listeners on a dizzying rollercoaster ride as potent as it is addictive. With dates supporting FIDLARMystery Jets & Deap Vally already under their belt Drenge are clearly making all the right (angry) noises.

Hailing from Birmingham,  four-piece oddball gang Superfood have gained a fierce live reputation, initially with zero singles, zero YouTube videos and not even a Soundcloud to their name. Shrouded in accidental secrecy, it wasn’t until recently that Superfood unveiled their first ever recorded track that started it all entitled, er, ‘Superfood’.

This January they finally unveiled themselves to a capacity Old Blue Last crowd supporting fellow brummies Jaws. A sold out UK tour supporting Peace quickly followed, as well as their own sold out headline show at Birmingham’s The Rainbow.

“Merging the buoyant pop hooks of Supergrass and the baggy tinges of Blur into something that shimmers as hard as it swaggers.” – NME
