LISTEN: Chloé Leone – ‘Comfortably Me’

May 15, 2017 in News

Chloé Leone debuts liberating new single ‘Comfortably Me’. Fresh on the scene – Midlands born, Dalston residing Chloé Leone is truly a breath of fresh air. With her unique blend of velvet melodies, pungent vocals and tongue-in-cheek wordplay; this newcomer debuts her first release of 2017, the feel-good and emancipating ‘Comfortably Me’.

Produced by Fred Cox (Janelle Monae, LionBabe), ‘Comfortably Me’ is Chloé’s personal ode to the world. Her take on the highs and lows of life as a young woman making her way in the world; dealing with relationships, purpose and hangovers; showing that it’s ok to be real, regardless of where you are from or what you have.

Standing as the first from a string of releases due out throughout 2017, Chloé is making a statement with her latest offering and is showcasing exactly why she is one of Britain’s most promising new artists.

LISTEN: C Duncan – ‘Nothing At All’

March 28, 2017 in News

Glasgow-based composer/producer C Duncan is sharing ‘Nothing At All’, the B-side to new single ‘Like You Do’.

‘Like You Do’ is the latest slice of recent record The Midnight Sun to get a single release. It’s flipside is a woozy, opiate-warm rush of fantastical synthery and thick vox – it’s a blinding counterpoint that offers mysterious pleasure in spades.

‘Nothing At All’ sees Duncan conjure majestic textures and layers, whirling them all together in a heady haze of psychedlic electronic pop. Much like the classic 4AD releases he’s shown his love for, this is an all-compassing piece of music that whisks you into sparkling, spangly worlds.

C Duncan plays Hare & Hounds Birmingham on Mon 8th May 2017. Tickets available here.

LISTEN: The Good Water – ‘Mansaid’

February 10, 2017 in News

The Good Water release their new single ‘Mansaid’ on Friday 10th February.

The new single from Birmingham based garage psych-rockers showcases psych-pop harmonies alongside frantic riffs and comes hot on the heels of their previous single ‘See Your Light’. This received airplay from Steve Lamacq, Mary-Anne Hobbes and Shaun Keaveny at BBC 6Music, as well as tastemakers at Amazing Radio and influential LA stations KROQ and Indie 1031.

Since forming in early 2015, The Good Water have been busy. The boys quickly picked up loyal support from Brum Radio with their drone-rock debut single ‘Everything Is’, gained new fans at raucous shows around the Midlands and blew away audiences supporting Mercury Rev, Super Furry Animals and Bill Ryder-Jones at Lunar Festival. The duo’s brand of psychedelic rock grooves, obscure lyrics and nimble riffs is streamlined into tight garage-pop frameworks. The press have been quick to spot their talents, with rave reviews from Soundsphere Magazine, Ear To The Ground Music, Slap Magazine, Diamond Deposits, Born Music Online and Mytacism Music amongst many others.

Watch: Gabrielle Aplin – ‘Light Up The Dark’

Following the success of her debut album English Rain, Bath-born songstress Gabrielle Aplin announces details of the release of her eagerly anticipated second album Light Up The Dark.

New single and title track ‘Light Up The Dark’ sees Gabrielle adopt a much heavier, darker sound than the gentle folk-pop of her debut release. Influenced by Joni Mitchell and the production on Feist’s The Reminder, Gabrielle says:

“I’ve become much more comfortable writing songs about other people’s stories as well as my own, much of which is inspired by travelling and everything I’ve seen since my first album.”

Light Up The Dark is released on September 18th and is available to pre-order now from here.
