Lazy Habits to play The Rainbow Birmingham

May 12, 2015 in News

With the hype of upcoming sophomore album The Atrocity Exhibition fully lighting the way, brass infused hip-hop trailblazers Lazy Habits are set to ignite the UK music scene once again with 12 new dates in spring 2015. The Kicking the Clouds tour will be the first live opportunity to hear the seven-piece’s explosive new material, which has been garnering celebrity and industry support in the lead up to it’s anticipated release later this year.

First single ‘The Breach’ was unveiled on 20th February with an epic video featuring two huge actors in the making – Joshua Whitehouse from the recent UK hit Northern Soul and Taron Egerton, who stars in critically acclaimed Kingsman – Secret Service alongside A-List stars Colin Firth and Michael Caine, and who recently dubbed Lazy Habits his favourite act of the moment.

Filled with ‘aggressively pounding beats and brass’ (Altsounds) alongside slick lyrics about modern British life, Lazy Habits master infectious hooks and clever arrangements, making their stage show the benchmark others aim for and are one of the tightest and most powerful live performances in the UK. They haven’t just racked up a cult following at home though, with the band returning fresh from a string of sold out dates in Asia, where they are famed for collaborating with Asian superstar rapper Dwagie’s alongside US rap heavyweight DJ Premier.

With everything going their way, these new shows will be anything but lazy for the Habits as they put on a colossal live experience, one that stays with you long after you’ve left the venue.

“Some of the most vibrant and cutting edge music you are likely to hear out of the UK music Scene” - Sputnikmusic

An exciting blend of acoustic, hip hop, and soul, Bear are Wolverhampton vocalist Faye Smith, accompanied by French multi-instrumentalist Gordon Begard. Begard provides a perfectly gauged backdrop of guitar and beats for Smith’s unique voice, which belongs amongst the likes of Selah Sue, Adele, Janis Joplin, Florence Welch, and at times Lauren Hill. Meeting in Toulouse, France, Bear have travelled and played together for little over a year, they now call Birmingham their home and seek to see how the city and beyond, through the people they meet, can influence their sound. Son Of Dave @ The Rainbow

Churning out the hits of yesteryear and today, legendary bluesman Son of Dave will be heading to Birmingham with his unmistakable music, made with harmonica, beatbox, percussion and a loopstation. Last November saw the launch of a new series of “Filthy 45′s” where Son of Dave took on some classic (and not so classic) tunes, giving them his own unmistakable mistreatment. Already known for his renditions of ‘Bonkers’ –Dizzie Rascal, ‘Black Betty’ – Ram Jam, ‘Bom Bom’ – Sam and the Womp, and many more, he decided to bow to public demand and crank out more crowd pleasers. His live show has already toured five continents and earned him a cult status amongst a diverse audience. With a CV as long as your arm and a briefcase full of naughty tricks, this is not to be missed. Tickets are available here.

The Bots @ The Rainbow Cellar

The US garage-rock duo, who have received praise from Zane Lowe & Rolling Stone, released their debut album Pink Palms in October 2014 to widespread critical acclaim. They duo have already kicked off 2015 in winning fashion with themmbeing named “L.A.’s most celebrated rock duo” by LA Weekly and featured in Interview Magazine’s “15 Faces of 2015”. They made their national TV debut on Late Night with Seth Meyers, in February 2015, performing their single ‘Blinded’. Tickets are available here.

God Damn + Elephantine + Bad Girlfriend + False Grails @ The Sunflower Lounge *SOLD OUT*

Dropped like a pipe-bomb into the British rock scene, Wolverhampton noise makers God Damn released their debut album Vultures on 11th May to widespread praise. A dizzying blend of barbed wire guitars, lung-shredding vocals and drums that run away like wild horses. It’s all the more effective when you learn God Damn are a stripped-down two-piece. Their set-up has naturally drawn comparisons to fellow rising bands such as Slaves and Royal Blood (we’re inclined to name-check Winnnebago Deal and Wet Nuns at this juncture too) but really that is where comparisons to duos end. God Damn always call themselves “a band.” Support comes from local noise rockers Elephantine, heavy garage rockers Bad Girlfriend and False Grails. More info can be found here.
