Joe Fox announces Birmingham show

July 3, 2017 in News

Joe Fox, whose debut Blue Flowers EP Acoustic Alley Sessions introduced the young Londoner as one of the most singular of British talents, drops his first single proper ‘What’s The Word’, impact date Sept 8. The track was produced by Leon Michels, co-founder of the Truth & Soul production team/record label, and collaborator with The Black Keys‘ Dan Auerbach in their band The Arcs. Mixed by Tom Elmhirst (AdeleDavid BowieAmy Winehouse) ‘What’s The Word’ finds Joe extending his musical reach to create a fuller, brass inflected, beat driven sound, exuding a loose limbed swagger, which hints at the direction his debut album is headed.

Acoustic Alley Sessions was a collection of raw, soulful, songs, that illustrated why A$AP Rocky chose Joe to co-write 5 songs on his #1 album At.Long.Last.A$AP, following a chance meeting on the streets of Soho. Joe’s strength as a songwriter lies in a total disregard for current trends and presents a special voice, sounding like no other in today’s musical landscape. A student of every great songwriter from the Beatles to Bob Marley, ‘What’s The Word’, and the new songs he has been recording for his debut album, coupled with his intimate and powerful live performances, present Joe Fox as a truly magnetic performer, and a writer and artist of unique talent.

Introducing: Joe Fox

March 14, 2017 in News

Joe Fox, whose debut Blue Flowers EP Acoustic Alley Sessions, released at the tail end of 2016, introduced the young Londoner as one of the most singular new British talents to emerge in recent years, has announced an 8 date tour of major UK cities, calling at Birmingham’s ORT on Fri 17th March.

Acoustic Alley Sessions, is a collection of raw, soulful, unadulterated songs, that illustrate why A$AP Rocky chose Joe to co-write 5 songs on his #1 album At.Long.Last.A$AP, following a chance meeting on the streets of Soho, where Joe was busking and selling CD’s.The EP included the tracks ‘Like Jesus’ and ‘Autopilot’, classic lyrical songs which demonstrated Joe’s dedication to his craft and displayed a total disregard for trends that makes his voice unique in the modern musical landscape.

A student of every great songwriter from the Beatles to Bob Marley, the debut EP, together with these forthcoming live dates, present Joe Fox as a truly magnetic live artist and find him performing in the same way he began making and selling his music: alone with a guitar.

Introducing: Joe Fox

October 10, 2016 in Introducing

It’s his dedication to craft and a total disregard for trends that makes Joe Fox’s voice unique in the landscape of 2016. A student of every great songwriter from the Beatles to Bob Marley, he brings a classic structure to the mind’s eye of a listless and disenfranchised child of the inner city.

“Rewind to last year and Joe Fox was still best known (if known at all to some) for his vocal work on much of A$AP Rocky’s 2015 album At.Long.Last.A$AP, a collaboration that came about after A$AP himself discovered the talented musician busking on the streets of London.

Fast forward to 2016 and Joe Fox is now standing on his own two feet, showcasing his solo abilities through the release of two stunning singles. The first to drop was ‘Like Jesus’, a beautifully crafted guitar track accompanied by Fox’s soulful voice. In a matter of days, Joe Fox spoiled us again with his second single, ‘Autopilot’. The track stays true to Fox’s habitual stripped-back nature, consisting only of acoustic guitar and raw vocals. The simplicity of the track helps make it feel instantly familiar, which is testament to Fox’s ability to connect with the listener.” – The Line of Best Fit
