After a quiet start to the week, things get loud on Thursday with a visit from Philadelphia quartet  Creepoid who take to the stage at The Rainbow. Friday we welcome local folksters Boat To Row to The Rainbow for an eagerly awaited set. Saturday we invite you all to another Free Entry Acoustic Sessions event at The Glee Club where local songstress Sally Haines headlines. Saturday night sees Buckinghamshire/Birmingham based indie five-piece New Bays play The Sunflower Lounge following rave reviews from Clash. THURSDAY 21ST MAY

Creepoid + Gleam + Holy @ The Rainbow

Philadelphia quartet Creepoid have shared stages with the likes of Dinosaur Jr. and Kurt Vile and have been compared to everyone from Sonic Youth, Brian Jonestown Massacre and Nirvana. They release their third album Cemetery Highrise Slum this summer following their two highly acclaimed albums Horse Heaven and Creepoid. Support comes from Birmingham shoegaze quartet Gleam and psych-rockers Holy. Tickets are available here.

FRIDAY 22ND MAY

Boat To Row + Alessi’s Ark + My Grey Horse @ The Rainbow

The Birmingham folk quintet have earned an outstanding live reputation after supporting the likes of Slow Club, Willy Mason and Johnny Flynn, plus crowd pleasing sets at Moseley Folk & Lunar. Their songs play host to winding tales, journeying through light and shade. Expect an intricate set woven with strings and vocal harmonies, layered with an ever-expanding collection of instruments. Crossroads, Grassmarket and Loyal Light EPs have paved the way for new single ‘Tightrope’. Released on Nocturne Records, it has enjoyed BBC Radio 2, BBC Introducing, Amazing Radio and BBC 6 Music play. Tickets are available here.

SATURDAY 23RD MAY

*FREE ENTRY* Acoustic Sessions: Sally Haines + Interior Castle + Patrick Brewer @ The Glee Club

The unstoppable Sally Haines has steadily nurtured her own solo career in many venues in and around Birmingham as well as being a familiar artist in Birmingham Pride. Her capacity for working in diverse music styles is quite remarkable. Even more outstanding is that she is successful in all of them. There can be few vocalists that work with blues, rn’b and soul bands who have also had personal citations from principal soloists at Covent Garden and Bucharest State Opera. Support comes from Interior Castle and Patrick Brewer. More info here.

New Bays + Fox Chapel + Institutes @ The Sunflower Lounge

Out on May 11th, the deeply independent outfit, who have performed alongside the likes of The Cribs, Kids in Glass Houses, Young Kato, released their latest EP Reckless on their own VersicRecords imprint. The title track is a breezy piece of fuzz pop with a nagging melancholic feel, and is currently streaming on Clash. We have a many a musical treat for you all this week. Catch two massive bands both born out of Glasgow appearing at The Sunflower Lounge. As well as local heroes playing their first hometown show in Wolverhampton for 18 months and a living legend who has previously played for Kyuss and Queens on the Stone Age. Have a gander below and see which takes your fancy.

MONDAY 2ND JUNE

Baby Strange + Dumb + Juice @ The Sunflower Lounge

After slots at Radio 1 Big Weekend in their hometown of Glasgow, T in the Park and The Great Escape as well as support slots with Palma Violets and The Vaccines, Baby Strange will be stopping by The Sunflower Lounge on Monday night. Having earned a reputation for a raucous live show and with strong local support from Dumb and Juice, make sure to get your tickets here.

TUESDAY 3RD JUNE

Paws + Virals + Furrow @ The Sunflower Lounge

We are hooking up with Counteract Magazine to present Galswegion three piece Paws at The Sunflower Lounge this Tuesday night. The band have an impressive support slot list featuring  Japandroids, Bleached, We Are Scientists, The Cribs, Mates Of State, No Age, Wavves and Ty Segall. Make sure to catch them showcasing tracks from new album ‘Youth Culture Forever’, with support from Virals and Furrow; tickets available here

Howling Bells + Climbing Boys @ Hare & Hounds

If you are headed King’s Heath way Tuesday night instead, be sure to catch the stunning Australian four-piece Howling Bells at Hare & Hounds. They be sure to play tracks from new album ‘Heartstrings’ set for release on June 2nd. This hotly anticipated record comes after the group severed ties with old record label and began to work with Catherine J Marks and Alan Moulder on a new ‘fuller and grungier’ sound. FRIDAY 6TH JUNE

Forest + Only Shadows + Holy @ Hare & Hounds

If you are looking for a fun way to spend your Friday night, why not head to Hare & Hounds and catch indie Cambridge lads Forest. After the release of acclaimed EP ‘Wisdom Tusk’ in March, this five piece have been causing a stir appearing in many ‘Ones To watch’ list as well as praise from The Guardian. This young group are set for a busy Summer, make sure you don’t miss out and see them at the start of it all in King’s Heath. With local support from Only Shadows and Holy, get your tickets here.

SATURDAY 7TH JUNE

God Damn + Women + Weatherbird + The Scribers @ The Slade Rooms

Birmingham Promoters are teaming up with Brum Notes to present God Damn in their hometown Wolverhampton at The Slade Rooms on Saturday night. Having recently signed to One Little Indian Records and the release of latest single ‘Shoe Prints in the Dust’, the boys want to celebrate with a local show to remember. Nick Oliveri @ The Bull’s Head, Moseley

Former member Kyuss and Queens on the Stone Age, and a current member for Mondo Generator,Bl’astMoistboyz and The Dwarves, Nick Oliveri will be playing a solo acoustic set at The Institute this Saturday. He will be showcasing songs from both old albums and new record ‘Leave Me Alone’, which featured guitar solos from the likes of  Phil Campbell (Motorhead), Dean Ween (Ween/Moistboyz) and Stephen Haas (Moistboyz). Little Barrie + Gil De Ray @ The Sunflower Lounge

If a blend of rock, blues, garage and soul is more your thing, head down to The Sunflower Lounge for Little Barrie. They will be playing songs from new album ‘Shadow’. Shortly before recording the record, the band supported the likes of The Stone RosesCharles BradleyDinosaur JrKasabian and Primal Scream.
