Frances to play The Glee Club Birmingham

January 20, 2016 in News

Hailing from Newbury, songwriter, Frances, released her debut EP Grow on Communion Records last July.

Following in the footsteps of such iconic female singers as Carole King and Laura Marling, the EP is a haunting and emotive affair, showcasing the power of the 21-year old songstress’ soul-laden voice, as well as her innate skill for crafting songs that have the ability to be at once both intimate and powerful.

2015 saw Frances support James Bay, receive extensive airplay from BBC Radio 1, as well as be nominated for the BRIT Awards Critics’ Choice. Tipped by Apple Music, Spotify and Digital Spy as one to watch 2016, the young songwriter is currently recording her debut album.

Watch: Frances – ‘Let It Out’

October 13, 2015 in News

As emerging British songstress Frances prepares to release her Let It Out EP on 16th October she’s released a set of visuals for the title track.

Directed by Jon White, the clip finds Frances performing ‘Let It Out’ on a piano in an empty room. While clearly minimalistic, it’s the perfect companion for the emotional track.

Following in the footsteps of such iconic female singers as Carole King and Laura Marling, this second EP arrives as Frances earlier this year proved to be one to watch with the release of her breathtaking debut EP Grow on Communion Records.

Introducing: Rhodes

October 27, 2014 in News

A year ago Rhodes had played just a handful of live shows. Now, 12 months later, he is something of a veteran, having supported Sam Smith, London Grammar, Laura Marling, Nick Mulvey and Rufus Wainwright. He has toured the UK, sold out three nights at London’s Sebright Arms, as well festival performances at Glastonbury, Wilderness and Latitude to name a few.

Now signed to Ministry of Sound through his own Rhodes Music imprint, Rhodes released a stunning new EP Home on 19th October. He is a singular talent. His voice is striking and the stark simplicity of his songs is initially deceptive. Whether he plays electric guitar or keyboards, solo or with a band, the sound totally belongs to him.

Using producers Ian Grimble (Daughter), Tim Bran/Roy Kerr (London Grammar) and Iain Archer (Jake Bugg), Home showcases Rhodes impressive songwriting talent. Lead track ‘Breathe’ is beautiful, held together by a stripped back verse and a glimmering chorus. The endearing anthemic title track leads into bittersweet piano ballad ‘What If Love’. The EP picks up the tempo and closes with the warming and catchy ‘Crash’.
