LISTEN: Ed Geater – ‘Found A Place’ feat. Lady Sanity

June 19, 2017 in News

Ed Geater and Lady Sanity, two of Birmingham’s finest up-and-coming talents, join forces to produce this piece of cerebral and powerful hip-hop as the first release on new Birmingham record label, Brox Records.

The track has received radio support, from that of Brum Radio, and a highlight coming from the legend that is Tom Robinson selecting it for his BBC Introducing Mixtape show on BBC Radio 6 Music.

For Birmingham born singer-songwriter and beatboxer Ed Geater, rhythmical dexterity is complemented by lyrical prowess. Growing up on a staple musical diet of alternative rock, folk and electronica, equally matching his love of classical music, Ed switched his primary childhood instrument from violin to guitar and pursued his love of song-writing, whilst harnessing his metronomic skills as a beatboxer.

Influenced by his obsession with ambient electronic artists such as Bonobo, Boards of Canada and Four Tet – Ed set out to create the same vivid and textural musical landscapes, but only using his organic vocal beats, acoustic guitar and loop station. The resulting sound is an electronic infused, pop-laden and folk inspired tapestry, with clear nods to revered songwriters such as Jeff Buckley and Ben Howard.

Ed Geater to play The Rainbow

August 11, 2016 in News

Birmingham singer-songwriter and beatboxer, Ed Geater has announced details of a new EP release and its accompanying live launch.

Unseen (released October 10th via Music Mandi) is the follow-up EP to his last extended player, Barriers, which featured the drum and bass infused ‘Don’t Think’.

Ed, who is massively influenced by minimalist and ambient electronic artists such as Bonobo and Four Tet has developed a truly unique sound over the last couple of years, and will be looking to continue his mission of taking Birmingham by storm following the success of his Barriers EP.

Not only is Ed one of the city’s finest songwriting talents – he’s also a pretty mean beatboxer too. His forthcoming single, ‘Symmetry’ showcases this perfectly with a blend of intricate guitar work floating amongst Ed’s dulcet tones and beatboxed backing; it’s a real toe-tapper. Keep an eye out for the ‘Symmetry’ single and video, both of which are set to drop in September.

Set to take place at the Rainbow Courtyard in Digbeth on October 27th, the EP launch will be a great chance to see Ed in an intimate setting before he, inevitably, catapults in to stardom.

His last EP launch at the Sunflower Lounge was packed out – so we’d advise picking up your tickets as soon as possible.

Local artists Lady Sanity and Alex Rainsford will be special guests on the night.
