Callaghan at Glee Club Birmingham this Friday

Callaghan plays piano and guitar and delivers a stunning vocal which earns frequent comparisons with artists like Sarah McLachlan and Emmy Lou Harris. Her songwriting chronicles the stories, experiences and emotions which are part of everyone’s lives. BBC London’s Gabby Roslindescribes hearing Callaghan live as “breathtaking…absolutely incredible”.

Her latest studio album A History or Now was recorded in Nashville. Since it’s release in spring 2015 Callaghan has played live on Clare Balding’s Good Morning Sunday on Radio 2, with Gaby Roslin and Robert Elms on BBC London, and on regional radio across the UK.

After several years in Nashville Callaghan’s musical journey has now taken her to LA where she’s written and recorded the first of 3 new EPs. The Other Side was recorded with acclaimed producers Anthony RestaJeff Fair and Starr Parodi and will release in June 2017.

Callaghan to play The Sunflower Lounge

Originally from Lincolnshire, Nashville based singer songwriter Callaghan moved to the USA in 2010 to tour and record with Atlanta based Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins.

Last year, after five years of building her audience in the US, (where she’s since sold over 10,000 albums) – she returned to the UK with the new album A History Of Now, which included the acclaimed BBC Radio 2 playlisted singles ‘Best Year’ and ‘We Don’t Have Change The World’. Already familiar to fans of Bob Harris who describes her as “a wonderful artist…hugely talented”, Callaghan enjoyed a hugely successful 2015 which saw her profile build substantially in the UK.

Following the release of the album, Callaghan had two appearances at the massive C2C festival at London’s O2 arena in March followed by a sellout show in London, a tour in April with multiple sold out dates and festival appearances across the summer including Summer Tyne Festival, The Secret Garden Party and Cambridge Folk Festival.

Callaghan to play Hare & Hounds Bham

Originally from Lincolnshire Callaghan moved to the USA in summer 2010 to record and tour with Grammy-Nominee Shawn Mullins, since then she’s been performing and winning fans all across the USA. Callaghan plays piano and guitar and delivers a stunning vocal which earns frequent comparisons with artists like Sarah McLachlan and Emmy Lou Harris. Her songwriting chronicles the stories, experiences and emotions which are part of everyone’s lives.

A long-time Shawn Mullins fan, she contacted the Atlanta singer-songwriter through MySpace and, after being knocked out by her music, he agreed to produce her debut album. Life in Full Colour was tracked in and around Atlanta and released in summer 2012 to a great reaction. Since then Callaghan has been on the road touring with artists including Shawn Mullins, Ed Kowalczyk, Matthew Perryman-Jones and more across 46 states.

Her new album A History of Now was entirely fan funded via Pledge Music and produced in Nashville by Dennis Matkosky. The new record showcases Callaghan’s gift for melody and impactful songwriting in a collection which ranges from uplifting, exuberant anthems to poignant, mesmerizing ballads. Since its release in April 2015 it has been earning praise and airplay on both sides of the pond.

Following her appearance at the C2C festival in March, a UK tour in April and July appearances at summer festivals including Secret Garden Party, SummerTyne and Cambridge Folk Fest Callaghan returns to the UK in October and November for appearances at the London Folk and Roots Festival and dates across England.

Introducing: Callaghan

Originally from Lincolnshire, Callaghan moved to the US in summer 2010 to record and tour with Shawn Mullins. Since then she’s been busily carving out a career for herself and winning fans all across the USA. Back home in the UK the BBC’s Bob Harris has been a strong supporter, regularly playing her music on both his Radio 2shows and describing her as ‘a wonderful artist…. beautiful, warm and hugely talented’.

Callaghan performs live on piano and guitar and delivers a stunning vocal which earns frequent comparisons with artists like Sarah McLachlan and Emmy Lou Harris. Her debut album, Life in Full Colour, was released in summer 2012 to a great reaction. The Huffington Post described the album as ‘joyful listening’ while InLiveMusic simply said ‘Callaghan’s voice is stunning’.

Now part of the Nashville singer-songwriter community, she recently appeared in the BBC Four show Bob Harris My Nashville, and performed live in the companion show Back to Beth’s: A Nashville House concert alongside stars such as Beth Nielsen Chapman, Jason Isbell and Amanda Shires. Her new album, A History of Now, scheduled for UK release on 12th April, was was produced in Nashville by Dennis Matkosky.
