Less than 2 years on from playing their first gig in 2015 – Sugarthief will share a stage with fellow Birmingham bands, Ocean Colour Scene, Editors, The Twang, Jaws and Superfood at the inaugural Beyond the Tracks Festival in the heart of the Second City (16th September 2017). This will mark the end of a fine Summer which sees them open YNot Festival on the main stage (Friday) before playing Kendal Calling.

Brothers Jordi & Jack James created Sugarthief after a few years busking and playing open-mic nights. Their desire to play their “home-recorded” music in a full band setup led them to join forces with ex-school pals Reece Downton (Drums) and Luke Owen (Bass).

Stricken by an affable indie-rock vision, the young four-piece document modern teenage experiences via jangly guitars, pop-ridden basslines and hook laiden lyrics.

Back in the studio to record 6 new tracks, the band hope to release an EP before the turn of the year. They’ll release their 5th track ‘Provide’ on July 17th.

Plus support from IVORY WAVE

With a rapidly burgeoning reputation for contagious acid house indie you can dance to, as well as mad for it rammed out live shows, Brummy five-piece Ivory Wave sound like a mash up of the Happy Mondays, Kasabian and a dash of Roses. In other words, they’re absolutely colossal. ‘Paradise’ is one of the best singles you’ll hear all year by a new band.
