PULLED APART BY HORSES+ MENACE BEACH + THEM WOLVES

Pulled Apart By Horses are less a gang and more one big f**ked-up dysfunctional family. The Leeds quartet are a tightly-knit rock band who make music that thrills and menaces, their songs armed with suckerpunch riffs and zinging choruses. They formed in 2008 out of the ashes of various bands in Leeds. Since then they have existed in their own chaotic ecosystem, embarking on relentless tours around the world and stopping only to make 2010′s punkily infectious self-titled debut and its snarling 2012 follow-up Tough Love (produced by Gill Norton – Pixies/Foo Fighters etc).

Everything they’ve done has been drenched in a sense of youthful recklessness, of all or nothing ardour. With third album Blood they have taken things a step forward with wider musical and lyrical themes, embracing their love of psychedelic cinema and developing as a band whilst retaining the thrilling ‘Horses’ sound. It’s their most brilliantly fully-formed yet, a record that matches rhythmic stoner-rock propulsion with hollered hooks. It is the sound of calculated chaos, of a band who have learned to control their riotous clatter. Hard to believe the title was inspired by the royal baby George who was born at the same time as the writing of the song.

Plus support from MENACE BEACH

Recently seen playing Birmingham’s Hare & Hounds as part of All Year’s Leaving Festival, Leeds alt-rock duo Menace Beach’s line up, based around  joint-singers Liza Violet and Komakino‘s Ryan Needham, is bolstered by support from fellow Leeds luminaries such as Matt “MJ” Johnson of Hookworms, Rob Lee of Pulled Apart by Horses, Nestor Matthews of Sky Larkin and Matt Spalding of You Animals.

Drawing influences equally from shoegaze, fuzzy US alt-rock, Britpop and echoes of Madchester, their debut album Ratworld, available Jan 2015, looks set to be one of the most anticipated releases emanating from the DIY scene  to date.

“Drenched in the perfect amounts of energy, fuzz and bitter-sweet hooks.” The Guardian

Plus opening support from THEM WOLVES

Birmingham noise-rock trio unite in a shower of ugly, lurching riffage. Reference points include early 80s sludge and willfully abrasive noise rock (a la The Jesus Lizard & Pissed Jeans). Spotted performing with the likes of F**ked Up, Trash TalkDope Body, Blacklisters & Bats before even officially releasing any music, and more recently Future of the Left. Described as ‘Not just band, more a weapon of mass destruction… makes Black Sabbath sound like The Saturdays’ by The Hearing Aid – expect relentlessly pummeling rhythms, caustic feedback-drenched guitar and alpha-male inadequacy.
