LOW ISLAND+ LYCIO + THE CHARLEMAGNE

Low Island are a four piece from Oxford who blend indie and electronica to create atmospheric and dynamic music. With beautiful, floating vocals and experimental instrumentation, they pair whirlwinds of jazz-inspired drums with more delicate, intricate guitars on tracks like ‘Disconnect.’ Meanwhile, ‘End Piece’ features soaring synths and electronic flourishes that sit effortlessly alongside lilting guitars and strong beats.

Their self titled debut EP was released in February 2017, and the band have also unveiled a short film which features excerpts from all four of its tracks. The video is about the claustrophobic yet isolating nature of cities, and the idea of finding your own space within them, following a man as he escapes the confines of a city in search of freedom on its outskirts.

The band have already been compared to the likes of Caribou and Radiohead, very fitting comparisons with their breed of experimental indie electronica. With such a spectacular start, there’s no doubt Low Island are a band to keep tabs on.
