DRAKELOW+ ONLY SHADOWS + MUTES
Birmingham band Drakelow, described as having a sound that is full of heart, augmented by flourishes of piano and hazy shimmering strings, will be celebrating the release of their first single ‘Amber’. The band, who have played a handful of impressive hometown shows, are promising a night of first-class live music, free gifts for everyone who attends, and a few as yet unannounced surprises.
Speaking about the single, set for release at the end of November, frontman and singer/songwriter Matt Pinfield said: “Amber is the first song the band wrote that I felt really nailed all the elements that we’d explored individually in other songs. The song is partly fictional, partly autobiographical and one of the few songs that I’ve written where it all hangs on a single character.
I like the fact that the word Amber itself could refer to the name, the colour, or the fossilised tree sap thing. Just to clarify, this song is not about Jurassic Park or the concept of extracting dinosaur DNA for financial gain.”
