COASTSVENKMAN + FOREST LIFE
Conceived almost a year ago in the chapel of their local church, where the unique ‘shimmery trop-pop’ sound of Coasts took its first fledgling steps, this Bristol-born five-piece posses a wealth of musical knowledge and understanding.
The band have made swift progress, honing their sound through constant touring, where the bands’ exciting live show – back lit tropical tie-dye sheets made to ripple like water and vintage football games (played in reverse) projected onto huge backdrops are some examples – sees their fanbase continually grow. Though summery, upbeat and dance centred, their music incorporates a much darker, fuzzier, slacker-rock element.
Early demos ’Stay’ and ’Lions’ were leaked onto social networks where they picked up critical acclaim from the blogosphere, publications such as Artrocker and spins on Radio 1. This autumn sees the true arrival Coasts onto the music scene with a single campaign planned to promote the bands’ debut official release consisting of full UK tour including a show at Birmingham’s The Victoria on Friday 25th October 2013.

Plus support from VENKMAN
Midlands act Venkman produces dark knife-edged funk, scattered with soaring pop melodies and irresistible grooves. Spawned from humble hiss-drenched demos in Leeds, Venkman is now a fully-fledged Midlands six piece. The band’s idiosyncratic, interweaving boy/girl vocals ensure harmonious hooks are hammered into every song – creating a dichotomous mix of quirky, funk-flavoured earworms driven by pummelling basslines and off-kilter drums, peppered with choppy guitars, and dusted with a sprinkling of synth. The groups self description of their “off kilter funk” sound is realised in debut track, ‘Martial Law’ taking a unique stance on new age pop.
“Their debut single ‘Martial Law’ is an incredible show of musicianship.” - Et Musique Pour Tous
